THE FARM
‘This is a farm full of wonders established by a family who lived in one of the most hectic cities in the world, Istanbul. ’
It was nearly 30 years ago and our founder, The Grandma, Serpil Akbayır discovered this land which was once a deserted field in a village in the district of Silivri. Our pine trees were the first to be planted. Those trees, which were our first assets, now surround the farm.
Next came the orchards, vegetable gardens, the pond and vineyards as this empty stretch of land turned into a beautiful painting over time.
As our trees bloomed and we could harvest the vegetable gardens, we completed the construction of our stone house and started a new life with our chickens, roosters, ducks, geese and pheasants on the 21-acre farm.
The vegetables and fruits harvested in our farm are sent to ‘THE BARN‘ where delicious dishes are cooked and served to enjoy in the cool shadows of the trees.
Any ingredients missing from THE BARN are sources from the neighboring fields while nothing is wasted, with all food waste is recycled to make fodder, fuel or compost.
We use chili peppers instead of pesticides, eggshells for calcium and the sun for energy.
The women of our family are responsible for the seeds, the soil, the harvest and management, and our dad for the technical stuff and the bees.
